I was using MS Office Professional and then it just stopped. It wanted a license number. I tried to fix it but it would not work.
I uninstalled the software and tried reinstalling it again with the DVD. I get this message ms office professional encountered an error during setup. I am using XP with explorer 8. Fixit shows no problems. Please help. This thread is locked. The good news is that I think that I have finally managed it. It was when searching the support help files that I tried Virtual Agent in desperation. When that failed to find an answer, I was offered a personal support agent. The first support agent tried all the standard stuff that I had tried.
We tried repair from a fresh download installation programme, then removal via control panel, then removal via Microsoft clean removal tool, then install, then failure and repeat At one point, the agent said that he needed to reboot, so save a link to allow me to reconnect after rebooting. He failed to tell me that I would need to log in as Admin after reboot. That led to other problems! When it rebooted, I went to log into the account that we had been using, but the agent stopped me.
I had problems logging into the admin account, but, when I managed, was hit by Windows 10 configuration and update dialogues. Some minutes later, I was in, but the link etc had been stored in the other account! I had to access that using admin privileges etc. Found the link and used it. Was connected to a different agent. Had to tell him the problem and what had been done.
That did not stop him repeating the first agents actions. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
