I have the same problem. When I purchased the program through work it was a download. That was in January and I don’t have the key any longer. How should I repair the program? I can see it all on the computer but I get an error message when I try to repair and cannot find a “setup” file. Today it is happening every second or third new file. My issue is almost the same plus it does not allow me to jump from one cell to another and goes in Not Responding mode. I can make a change to the cell data, click on save and that’s it.

Now if I click X to exit the excel , it goes into not responding or click tab to move to the next cell-not responding. This happens in safe mode too and I do not have any add on’s. The size of the file is KB. I had absolutely no issues with office using this file. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

I have a reproduceable issue whereby ‘save as’ causes Word to hang. As soon as save a document with a new file name in any location mapped drives, desktop, etc. The document saves just fine. This behavior is the same whether or not I actually make any changes. I’ve also converted the documents to remove ‘compatibility mode’ but the problem persists. The symptom does NOT exist when I use the ‘save’ function – only ‘save as’ and change the title.

Also, the symptom does NOT exist when I create a new document in word. The documents in question were originally created multiple versions ago. I suspect there’s something weird embedded in the template, fonts, etc.. I have several co-workers with the same issue – anyone else come across this?

I upgraded to Windows 10 and suddenly Word would not open files correctly, it did not show the pictures. The same file works fine in WordPad. Sooo, I upgraded to Office Uninstalled Office completely, rebooted, reinstalled Office I feel that the Windows 10 upgrade hosed something but have no idea what it could be. I do need Word to work properly.

Try starting one of the applications. Which Antivirus utility do you have installed? If that does not work Choose the type of repair you would like to perform. Depending on the severity or availability of your Internet connection, you could try the first option, Quick Repair, which is much faster and tries to fix the problem without a data connection.

For my particular issue, I ultimately had to use the Online Repair. The repair process is straight-forward following the wizard.
